TechSet @ Eden NYC/Web2Expo

image from techset nycWent to TechSet @ Eden NYC last night to support Empressr (it was a nerd gathering related to Web2Expo). Lots of low-light shots, and with a firmware upgrade I’m better able to shoot ISO2000 without having the picture become digital garbage.

If I took yer pic and told you it would be here – it is. Follow the link below. :)

Macrofied

picture of watch - macroI bought a set of extension tubes today (Rokunar 13, 21, and 31 for Maxxum) and decided to play with some non-typical macro shots tonight.

I used a 50 f1.4, 50 f3.5, 100 f2.8, 135 f2.8, 500 f8, and a 70-200 2.8G. I got a little bored early on and upped the ante by stacking all of the tubes on top of a kenko teleplus pro 300 ×1.4 on top of a kenko teleplus Pro 300 ×2. Dragged out the giant tripod and I was good to go.

While absolute sharpness and a lot of light were missing (used my 56AM flash), the results turned out much better than expected. EXIF should be intact below images to see which is which. I didn’t bother cropping down, so the images are the fullsize view resized to a max 800×800.

Bell @ Joe's Pub

Bell @ Joe's PubHad an open Friday night and went to see Bell at Joe’s Public. She’s really coming into her own, even getting into SPIN magazine. If you get the opportunity, check her/them out.

Performance was great, and if you’re interested – pick up the EP here. $5 well spent. For more on the band, follow this link over to their MySpace page.

Empressr

Normally I’m only posting and going on about my pictures and camera pieces-parts. For a change of pace, I give you my first Empressr. Think of it as rich-media (and I in no way mean to denigrate it) powerpoint for the web (via AJAX and Flash). And by ‘web’ I mean ‘Web 2.0’. Neat. :)

Last Day of September

Shots from the last few weeks. It’s been a warm September, with lots of sun and too little rain. I’d hoped to have acquired a new camera (there’s a nice upgrade to the one I’m using now), but am still plugging away with my A100. Haven’t gotten any new lenses in quite awhile too. I don’t think I’m missing anything.

October begins tomorrow, and Fall is working its way into the North East. Colorful leafy shots are on my horizon… til then, more miscellaneous activity shots.

End of September
